Becoming a professional footballer is the dream of millions of young people around the world. However, the disparities in the world of football have never been greater. The treatment of the overwhelming majority of amateur footballers is not improving. Especially for African players, who continue to perceive Europe as an El Dorado where all dreams are possible. But this mirage too often leaves room for disillusionment, fraud and misery.

There are many bogus recruitment channels, where scams, lies and cheating are intertwined. 

Because, in a sub-Saharan Africa where extreme poverty still reigns, the vast majority of young people grow up with the hope of becoming a professional footballer like Mané, Eto'o, Drogba.

These young people in search of social advancement are ready to take reckless risks. No less than 6,000 minors attempt to get to Europe each year (more than 70% fail).

To increase their value and make themselves more attractive to European clubs, many players change their age (around 3 or 4 years old, on average). Thus, African national youth teams dominate all international competitions. With a modest first team, Nigeria was yet a five-time reigning Under-17 world champion but when FIFA introduced mandatory wrist MRI scans in the last edition. 

Outcome? Out of 60 players, Nigeria has only been able to present 34 (all starters were kicked out)
